This photography project reflects my personal journey through memories and emotions tied to my hometown, Hong Kong. This place has changed so drastically that it feels unfamiliar. I explore the tension between wanting to forget a complicated past and the inability to let go of it. The city's rapid political and economic changes have left me feeling disconnected as friends and family leave, searching for hope elsewhere while others remain trapped by financial constraints.

Photography serves as a way for me to express thoughts I often avoid, confronting emotions I struggle to articulate. The project also touches on my disconnection from a close friend who went to prison and the alienation that time and distance have created between us.

Ultimately, this project is about more than just a changing city—it’s about losing connection to people and places. It reflects on the deep sense of isolation and the impact of time on relationships, identity, and belonging. Through these images, I explore the emotional cost of change, both personal and collective, and the difficulty of finding one’s place in an increasingly unfamiliar world.
